What is the PTO?

PTO stands for Parent Teacher Organization. Perhaps you've heard about Golden Hills PTO through various fund raising activities or the supplies and programs we financially support at school. Providing these extras is important to us, but our work goes beyond raising money.

The Golden Hills PTO is a group of parents, teachers and administrators that works to make a difference in the education of our students. Our mission is to create the kind of school community where teachers and administrators can do their best work; and so can our children. We provide support for teachers in and out of the classroom along with resources they need. We try to build and encourage the kind of supportive, caring atmosphere that makes school fun through programs like Red Ribbon Week, Read Across America, Box Tops for Education and parent involvement

On-going Programs

Little Caesars Pizza night: The second Thursday of every month - buy 1 large, 1 topping pizza for $9.99 & get crazy bread with sauce, for which Golden Hills receives $4. Or mention Golden Hills Elementary when you buy any menu item and we will receive 20% of the sale (excluding specials and Hot & Ready).

Hungry Howies Monday Night Football: The third Monday of every month - pizza night. Call for specials.

Recycle Rewards: This program allows us to collect empty inkjet, toner/laser cartridges and used cell phones, and pays us for them. These are items that would normally be thrown away, so this is our chance to help the environment and earn money for our school. Look for the drop box for these items by the Cafeteria next to the Box Top bucket.

Boxtops for Education: Cut out those specially marked boxtops and drop them in the Box Top bucket by the Cafeteria.

Savemart S.H.A.R.E.S. Card: The cards will be passed out by the end of September.

Labels for Education: Save Campbell's soup labels.

In past years PTO has supplied: ELMO projectors for our classrooms, checks to teachers for classroom supplies, funds to help with field trips, printers, ink and toner for our school and $10,000 for the computer lab. We have also sponsored Red Ribbon Week and Read Across America. A big THANK YOU to all who have supported us in these efforts.
